Slipping into a book.

All the time!

I love escaping into the pages of a good book & being able to explore the world the writer has opened up for me to indulge in.

I enjoy sensing & realising the smells, feelings, emotions, tastes, the hustle of being on the street, the thrills of speeding in a car chase or trotting along in a horse & carriage down an isolated country lane, actually hearing those sirens in the background or the seagulls soaring over the crashing waves etc.

Being able to search deep into the characters mind, touch what they touch, sense what they sense & feel how they feel when embarking on each step within the novel…

…It excites me, lets me escape & allows me to enter a whole new world, one that I never knew existed or could only exist in your imagination.

Even 10 years ago when Harry Potter came out I wanted to be one of those older wizards…

…Swishing a wand around turning people into toads etc, fighting off evil & getting into flying cars sounded fun & exciting.

Harry Potter gave people a sense of enjoyment in a non realistic way allowing readers pure escapism through pages of a gripping fictional story & as readers we get a feel for the characters emotions as they grow up, standing by them through the funny times & emotional times.

It’s just the same as many other books & this is what makes us sink into those pages time & time again. It’s not just the story being told but its how it’s being told & the characters lives that open up to us which allows the readers to sink into the pages one by one begging us to read on & on.

I find it quite easy to switch off & allow a book to grab my whole attention. I won’t hear ‘other’ noises & I certainly won’t pay attention to my fiancé, which tends to mean there are a lot of ‘huhs’ & ‘did you say anything just then?’ although this may be annoying to him it can be quite amusing to me.

Dancing During my time at school (which feels like a long time ago now) I took dance as a subject. I loved it & still love it. But I no longer do it. There were always more girls than boys in the class & in fact at one point we only had 1 boy amongst about 15+ of us girls. It was unfair on him, he however loved it & actually was a good dancer. We would start by doing our stretches then we’d move on to the set pieces we either had to learn & perform in front of the others or we would study techniques of other dancers & then have to choreograph our own piece of dance. It was good fun, interesting & in the end important for our grading & exams. I continued to dance at various times…mainly when I’d had a few drinks…but I have never joined a dance class. Eggs

Scrambled? Fried? Sunny side up? Boiled? Poached? Omelette? Scotch egg? Oh how I despise eggs! I have never eaten them & never will eat them. The smell gets to me first, then the texture, then the sight of them looking all kind of rubbery like especially fried & boiled ones. Ewww. My family loves them though & throughout the years had tried to encourage me to at least taste them…let’s just say they never tried again! I remember my grandparents loving boiled eggs with slices of toast or fried eggs on slices of ham with chips. My mum liked hers boiled or poached & my sister would eat them anyway but especially liked omelettes. It wasn’t until I started waitressing that they really got to me. People would request omelette upon omelette or fried egg with ham upon fried egg with ham. All I saw were eggs, eggs, eggs. I'm back

I've noticed recently that my passion has begun to be awakened again. My love of the written word has been slowly creeping back into mind. I have fallen behind so much with my writing & my blog. I wanted to share my story of surviving domestic violence, but I guess at the time it was all still to raw for me. I had so much to say but my confidence had sunk so much, I just couldn't get those words out. But now I can. I've worked on myself, I've become the strong, confident woman I used to be many moons ago. It's taken time but that time has given me such amazing experiences. So my story will be shared. My written words will come alive again & I shall use these pages to talk to everyone again.
